Digipaks and Posters

A digipak is a patented style of a CD, DVD or Blue Ray packaging. Digipak's typically have a gatefold paperboard or card stock outer binding, with one or more platic trays capable of holding a CD or DVD.

I can see from these Digipacks, they all follow the same theme throughout. For example, Katy Perry's Digipack follows the theme of candy because of the front cover (she is layed on clouds that look like candy floss) and the CD (also represents candy). There are also commonly pictures of the artists displayed to represent their own album.

These posters all centred around the artists and had a particular mise-en-scene that relates to them and/or their album.

NME magazine has been published weekly since 1952. It started as a music newspaper, then moved towards a music magazine in the 1980's. In the 1970's it became the best-selling British newspaper. An online version of NME, NME.COM, was launched in 1996. It now has over 7 million users per month.

This shows 'Oasis' on the front cover of 'NME' magazine, This band is a similar genre to our song. The image uses black and white editing, like our products. It is also a simple image, focussing just on the artist. Throughout our products they focus just on Ally and his personal emotions.

Kerrang! is a UK magazine, devoted to rock music.It was first published in 1981. In the early 2000s it became the best-selling British music newspaper.

This shows 'Biffy Clyro' on the front cover of 'Karrang!' magazine. The picture is a close-up and this is done to convey emotions and reveal something about the artist. From their expressions, we can see that it indicates seriousness and intenseness.

I think our poster would be most appropriate in 'NME' magazine because Kerrang only include rock music. Furthermore, NME is very successful and is an example of convergance because it has a website: http://www.nme.com/ and NME awards are also held every year  to celebrate the best new music of the past year. The nominations and winners are voted for by the readers of the magazine.
