Art Work

This is my first draft of the lyrics page. I tried the lyrics in red at first to see if it added to the theme of rejection and loneliness. I liked this picture of Ally against the wall because it creates an urban image which links well with the genre of 'Alternative Rock'. I used the font 'Tahoma' because it was clear, with no particular detail. I decided this worked best because it is easy to read when you are reading the whole lyrics page with a lot of writing.

This is the final lyrics page of the Digipack. I changed the lyrics to black because red was difficult to see and black also fits better with the mise-en-scene of our products. I also made the writing in a bigger font to make it clearer to the viewers. However I kept the font in the same style, 'Tahoma'. I kept the picture as it was because it got lots of positive audience feedback. It links well with our music video because of many different reasons. Black-and-white editing links with our music video because it is what we used on Ally's solo shots to convey a feeling of sadness and loneliness.

Many other bands use images of them against a wall, also with black and white editing. An example below is of the band named 'Flipper' formed in San FranciscoCalifornia in 1979, continuing until the mid-1990s, then reuniting in 2005.

The image looks very effective because not only does this setting create realism, but means the viewers concentrate mainly on the image of the band. This is useful to sell their music because it is focusses on their looks so it is easier for a viewer to remember them.

This is our draft of our back cover of our Digipack. It has black lyrics, just like the lyrics page. The picture is also in black and white, this is so our digipack has the same style throughout. The picture is of Ally again, because we found from researching into other Digipack's; they are mainly focused on the main character or band. The scene that he is in, is the same as in our music video. This is so a viewer can associate our products together.

This is the final of our back cover of our Digipack. We made the writing 'Instrumental' the same size as the other writing on the page to make our product look more professional. We added a bar code on the bottom right to add realism to our product.

This is the front cover of our Digipack. This follows the same theme as the previous two parts of the Digipack. We chose the title of the song 'When Will I Be Loved?' in a deep red colour to distinguish the name of the song and to emphasise it so it is more memorable for the viewers. We also did it to make it stand out, because it is the front cover and what people will see first.

This is our draft of our CD. The image of the tree creates a feeling of isolation and hostility. We can relate this back to our music video as it looks similar to the setting of where Ally walked during his alone scenes, because he was surrounded by trees. We tried using the red colour because some of the writing on our Digipack is red and it is a colour that can represent sadness when used in the right context.

This is the CD of our Digipack. We changed the colour theme as the same as all the other parts. We decided this looked more effective because it blended in better with all our other products and it has a greater feeling of sadness and loneliness.

This is the spine of our Digipack. It follows the same dark colour conventions as the rest of the Digipack and the font is also the same as the front and back cover.

This is our Digipack put together:

This is our first draft of our poster. We tried using Erick Baker as the cover (the artist of our song) and we also used advertising techniques 'new single' 'available on iTunes' to influence the viewers to buy the song and watch our music video. However we decided it didn't work because it did not link well at all with our Digipack or our music video. This is because the audience cannot relate to Erick Baker as they have seen Ally throughout the other two products.

Our final poster used the same font as the front and back cover of the Digipack. We did this because our audience can relate the two products to each other. We used a picture of Ally again because he has become a recognisable icon for this song. The white writing creates a soft image and makes it different to our Digipack. One thing we did not change is we kept the same advertising techniques 'available on iTunes' to influence our audience to buy the song. We also included Erick Baker's website address to persuade our audience to view it and buy more of his songs and albums.
